St. Joseph Parish School of Religion (PSR) strives to assist parents in their role as the primary educators of the faith for their children through a blend of in-person and at-home lessons enhanced by opportunities for prayer, service, and family socials. PSR seeks to evangelize and catechize the whole family, and equip parents with the tools and confidence to pass along the faith in the home.
We utilize the Allelu! curriculum for our kindergarten students, which is built upon in the Alive in Christ series used for first through sixth grades. These curricula are designed to spiral from one year to the next, deeping the child's understanding of faith topics as appropriate for their age. Preparation and celebration of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist typically occurs in the second grade. If your child is beyond second grade and has not received the Sacrament of Baptism, Reconciliation, or Eucharist please contact Emily to coordinate sacramental preparation.
Chosen confirmation preparation begins in seventh grade and culminates in the celebration of Confirmation in the spring of eighth grade. Chosen is a video and discussion based program which engages the students in faith topics and issues relevant to living and carrying on the faith in the world today.
