Middle School

SJYM Middle School

Our 6th-8th grade group meets on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30 pm in the Upper Room. We offer dynamic programming, time in prayer, and lots of fun. Our nights allow plenty of time to speak with teens about where they are in their walk of faith, questions they have about life and Church teaching, and their prayer lives. We make regular use of prayer practices like lectio divina and praise and worship, and we strive to joyfully model a life of prayer to all who come through our doors. As the middle schoolers gather, we play games, listen to music, eat food together and grow in community. It’s a wonderful night for all, and your 6-8th graders are always welcome to join us!

Encounter

Every first Tuesday, we cancel SJYM Middle so that all of our middle schoolers, their parents, our high schoolers, and all parishioners are free to join us for Encounter. The first Wednesday of every month is Encounter, an opportunity for Adoration, praise and worship, a talk, and confessions. All ages are welcome! See more information here.

Retreat

Our primary retreat is the 8th grade Luke 18 retreat, which is the transition point from SJYM Middle to High School and a great opportunity to prayerfully prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation. All 8th graders, whether they are part of the parish or school or not, are invited and highly encouraged to join us for this weekend retreat!

Luke 18 2024: THIRST, March 1-3 2024

The Luke 18 retreat offers all 8th graders the opportunity to take a step back from everyday life to prayerfully consider who they are and who God is calling them to be. The retreat is led by our adult Core Team and High School volunteers. The talks are given by current High Schoolers, allowing for an opportunity to hear words of wisdom from older teenagers who have allowed the Lord to work His wonders in their own lives. This year our Luke 18 is scheduled for March 1-3, 2024 and will be hosted at St. Pius X High School. Registration can be found here. We hope you’ll come join us!
